The Interdisciplinary Commission for Mining Environmental Assessment (CIEAM) was welcomed at Los Azules 🌄 👷🏻 This week marked the visit of CIEAM to our project, a critical step in the evaluation process of the Environmental Impact Report (EIR) for Los Azules. ✏️ Accompanied by our management team, the Commission conducted an on-site evaluation to build upon the analyses performed during the earlier cabinet phase. 👉🏼 The visit was also attended by Denis Monardez, Secretary of Environmental Management and Mining Control of the Ministry of Mining, and Roberto Moreno, Director of Mining Environmental Assessment. ✅ As we advance the evaluation of our EIR, a key permit for the development of Los Azules, we reinforce our commitment to transparency and environmental sustainability throughout the project's lifecycle.

Los Azules, McEwen Copper's flagship project part of McEwen Mining Inc. and backed by partners such as Rio Tinto (through Nuton) and Stellantis , surpassed today its 2023/2024 exploration campaign objectives of 62k meters and has now drilled 62,178 meters (some 204.000 feet). Since the first drill rig started working in mid-October, we had a peak of 23 drill rigs and now operate 22 rigs with seven contractors simultaneously. The company owns eight Boart Longyear LF160, the largest fleet in the region, which Los Azules acquired to ensure sufficient drill rig availability and a part of which is in operation to develop local contractors. Weather permitting we will continue to drill to capitalize on the current momentum, then we will demobilize and continue all the technical work and process all the information obtained during South American winter. The company is obtaining all the relevant resources, geotech, hydrology and hydrogeology information in this campaign for our Feasibility Study, slated to be finished by Q1 2025. While expanding our knowledge of Los Azules' deposit, we continue to invest in a flagship project that has at this moment more than 500 people on site and the strategic involvement and collaboration of our key suppliers such as Foraco Argentina S.A., Boart Longyear, ConoSur Drilling S.A., HG Perforaciones , Goland Minning Service SRL, DrillAr, Knight Piesold, Caterwest S.A, MAPAL -Sigma, MINERA ZLATO and all the other community suppliers who share the dream of sustainable development in mining. Our pioneering and winter camp construction is almost complete. It will provide accommodation for an additional 156 people as an all-season facility and jumpstart future construction activities. McEwen Copper and McEwen Mining Inc. executives met with President Javier Milei to discuss the Los Azules copper project. On Tuesday, McEwen Mining’s Chief Executive Officer Robert McEwen, the VP of McEwen Copper & General Manager of Los Azules Michael Meding, General Counsel Carmen Diges, and VP of Corporate Development Stefan Spears had the pleasure to meet with the president of #Argentina, Javier Milei. They discussed the current economic and legislative progress made by the Milei government and the advancements towards the development of the large Los Azules copper mine located in the department of Calingasta in San Juan. During the meeting, Mr. Meding explained that the objective of the current works at Los Azules is to obtain all the technical information necessary to publish a feasibility study early next year. Currently, Los Azules has 22 drilling rigs operating, which makes it the largest such fleet in the country and one of the largest worldwide. The Company is planning to begin construction of the mine in 2026 and start production in 2029 if the necessary environmental permits are received and financing is in place. Los Azules submitted its Environmental Impact Report in April 2023 and it is currently under evaluation by San Juan’s mining authorities. Mr. McEwen described to the President that Los Azules is a solid project that will be developed on the basis of regenerative environmental principles, using innovative technologies to produce pure copper for industrial use that will contribute to closing the gap of the significant deficit in copper production required for the electrification of transportation and the change towards a greener future. In this regard, he highlighted that in order to move forward with multi-billion dollar investments in the Los Azules project free access to foreign exchange and clear rules are required. After the meeting, Rob McEwen said that "Argentina has a great opportunity and significant potential to become a mining leader, not only at a regional but also at an international level, and that is what we talked about with President Milei”.
