About
The Hollinger Golf Club is one of Northern Ontario's finest Championship golf courses and is the only 18-hole fully bent grass Championship golf course in the region. The Highlands Course, our Front 9, features elevated views with holes winding through the Canadian shield. The sixth hole is one most players will talk about as it is very unique because of the elevation changes, split fairway and spectacular views. The Lakelands Course, our Back 9, is cut through the lower part of the property where multiple ponds and streams come into play on most holes. The finishing holes, where the course moves back toward the higher ground, are some of the strongest holes on the golf course and feature stunning views of the property as well as wonderful views of the city.

We just moved to Timmins from Toronto last year, and for the first time, I had occasion to play a few holes last night at Hollinger. Mike at the Pro Shop was so accommodating - he sensed I was new to the course; he explained what I needed to know, got me off ahead of schedule, and was most respectful, mannerly, and courteous throughout. I've been around playing recreationally since I was 6. So I couldn't believe how good the fairways, bunkers and greens were! So mature, well-groomed and maintained!
From the walk-up periscope on the 2nd tee, to the most entertaining hole I've ever played - the 6th - it was a satisfying and rewarding experience!
Hats off and 5 STARS to Mike and all the staff who contributed to my enjoyment! It was a great time and worth every penny! I'll be back first chance I get!

A Muskoka style course at half the price, with spectacular views, tough corners and impeccable greens. Fun to play. A fair challenge for all skill levels.

I have been a strong golfer at this course for 8 years now and I wouldn't call this no 5 star spot to be ,yes the course is in excellent condition but it's not only about being a nice course like all other reviews , 5 star rating are for all around services , not for green grass and nice scenery lmfao , and if you had good services at the bar , you must of been the only one in the clubhouse , course is great but off course is a heck of a laugh

in the last 3 years they're kitchen service and bar services are so horrible and sad to deal with

its been an ongoing problem in the last few years and it's really time for a change ,
Im not one to complain much but this is a major problem at this course ,if you golf during dinner , you better bring you're picnic and cooler cause you CANNOT depend on they're so called restaurant at any point in time , it's been a major issue that they can't seem to figure out .
and for the amount of money and time I spend at this course, I notice how horrible it is and insulting it can be
Last time I remember having a good meal with no hassles with many years ago
Go try buy a drink threw you're 9th hole and you should be outta there in 20-30 MINUTES

One of the nicest courses that I've played. A true test for golfers who don't hit long but have to be accurate. As good as any of the resort courses in the south. Many great views of the city and surrounding areas from different elevations on the course.

If you love your golf and Northern Ontario's typical landscape, this course has it all:

Greens lodged in stunning spruce settings, tee-off with gorgeous views of Northern Ontario's historical mining landscape, narrowing fairways....great sand (should you find yourself in the traps), impeccable greens. This course is very well designed and highly recommended, especially for athletic golfers who prefer to walk.

Don't be fooled by the distance. This course will reward all shots. Long ball strikers....be warned... If you are not a straight driver, choose the white tees. I am a 14 handicap player (ladies) and normally, I am "macho" enough to play from the white tees. That being said, I absolutely loved playing from the red tees. I benefited from great views, with the exception of two holes.

There are excellent practice facilities, which include putting, chipping greens and drive range.

The downside: The course is adjacent to a large mining company operating an open pit. Thus, the last few holes can be distracting. Also, the clubhouse is quite small and is comprised of a small modular structure. But hey, the owners chose to invest on the course. That should be rewarded.

Give it a try. Worth it, if you love what Northern Ontario has to offer.

I play Hollinger as many times as I can when I get to Timmins. The course is well layed out, a littel short but very well maintained and designed. The greens are like a$100 course in the GTA and the greens are equally as good. The views and elevation changes make it a very interetsting course to play.

This golf course is fantastic. Having played many courses in southern, eastern and central Ontario as well as down east, out west and abroad I can safely say that the Hollinger is in every bit as good or better shape as those. With its' beautifully manicured fairways, huge undulating greens and numerous well-positioned bunkers and water hazards this course is as appealing to the eye as any of those top courses featured in Canada's top 100. With 4 sets of tees per hole it poses a challenge for golfers of all skill levels while still allowing them to enjoy the beauty of the natural surroundings.

The practice facility provides ample area to practice your driver, those long iron or short irons, bunker play or chipping and putting.

The pro shop offers a limited amount of merchandise but carries the basics such as balls, tees, gloves, caps, and shirts. Rental clubs are available in right or left hand as well as in junior and ladies. Gas carts and pull carts are available. The course is a demanding track so it is recommended you take a gas cart. A beverage cart is usually available on the course and features assorted beverages and snacks. The Clubhouse features a wide variety of food off the menu as well as beverages of all types. The atmosphere is cozy and friendly and bathroom facilities are good but no showers are available.

The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable and the course superintendent and his staff always have this course looking Tournament ready. If you plan to visit the Timmins area, bring your sticks as this is a most to play!!!

Tee times are recommended but walk-ons are accepted and will be accommodated where possible.

Ladies nights are Tuesday's and Men's nights are Thursdays. There are usually tournaments every weekend but the course is usually open to public/ members on Sat/Sun mornings as most tournaments start in the afternoons.
