Youlten Carlson Wagonlit Travel is the north's oldest travel agency. Percy Youlten started in 1927 by bringing immigrants from Europe, by steamship, to work in the local mines. Originally he provided the service part time, then added property insurance to his business. Mr. Youlten passed away on a cruise out of Miami and his daughter Ellen (Mazzuca) took over the business which was sold in November 1977 to local residents, Don and Florence Reid and Ruth and Wally Wiwchar. Florence passed away in 2003. The business continues to operate out of its Third Avenue location, with Ruth and her team of seven specializing in destination travel, groups and wedding destination packages. Youlten Travel has been awarded numerous awards over the years having been singled out by Sandals/Beaches in S.T.A.R. awards for *Top Retail Travel Agency Branch * Top Grand Pineapple Agency * Best of Best Agency Recognition * Top Destination Wedding Travel Agency.
