U-Payless Inc., also operating under the trade name Master Carpets, has been in business in the Timmins area for over 50 years at their location on Carium Road, Schumacher, Ontario. In 1961, Maurice Lessard moved to Schumacher with his wife Therese. Maurice began the business by selling carpets to merchants, and training individuals in carpet sales and carpet installation. In the beginning, sales were made from the basement of his home until he purchased a piece of property on Carium Road and began building his warehouse and showroom. Master Carpets grew over the years offering a lifetime warranty on the flooring they installed and that practice continues today. Keeping with the times, the company has progressed into offering its customers all types of flooring. Mr. and Mrs. Lessard raised six children with three of them working in the business today alongside Maurice. His two boys have years of experience in carpet installation. U-Payless Inc. strives to provide every customer with a variety of carpet and flooring choices and has a very large assortment of samples available for viewing in the showroom.
